(a/c Ron Johnson the Gawthornes lived 500 m. around the bend from the Ropes and ran Gawthorne’s bakery for several generations…and a number of descendants from this line probably still live in Mudgee)

c.1895 George Rope (below) & Daniel Gawthorne share-buy some land which in 1922 is transferred to Joseph George Rope, George’s son.

Ivy Irene Madeline – m. Tom Rowbotham .  Live and die at Home Rule and family still working property.

The children, who died in infancy, as well as his wife, died in a period of two years.  His wife, Margaret (nee Behan/Behean), and the two children are all buried at John Jamison Cemetery in Penrith with Margaret’s grandfather.
